New Gadget Alert

My wife requested an ipod touch 8GB so that's what I got her for our anniversary. I hooked it up to my itunes account and went through the setup procedures and registration. This process went flawlessly. Well, so far no complaints other than cost 179.99 at Bestbuy. That's after a price drop from 199.99. I still feel that Apple makes some of the worlds best electronics...however their prices and big brother like attitude toward the customer is something that will keep me from buying a lot of their products or services. The only way to get me on the Apple band wagon even a little bit is to release a Verizon-wireless iphone. Because the ipod we have in the house now has shown me what all the hoopla was about. Its a snappy little game player and media player. The best integrated system for buying apps, music and games I've seen so far. I wish that my BlackBerry had this type of apps/music/games service. The wifi range is good. Battery life is average but considering all the ways you can charge this device (car/laptop/wall unit) you shouldn't have too many problems. All in all a very nice experience with ipod touch 8GB version...very nice in deed. I'll keep ya posted.

On my 4th Blackberry Storm now :(

What can I say other than RIM had better get their collective stuff together! I can't believe that I had to replace yet another handset just over 1 yr into my current contract with Verizon Wireless. This time I was using my phone and all of a sudden the screen went crazy, device reboots, then acts like nothing happened. An hour late does it again and this time the screen stays messed up. So I take the media card out and head out to the local Verizon store.
They checked it out and promptly replaced the phone at no extra charge to me(two year warranty). Here is where things stand now. The replacement phone reboots when ever it (randomly) feels like it, randomly fails to recognize an installed media card, getting Java error screens or white screen of death. I really wanna like this phone, but 4 phones self destructing in one year, REALLLY?
I have not had time to get back to Verizon with the latest device failure. I'm really just about worn out with this version of the Storm. I mean isn't this the kind of crap that class action lawsuits brought on by unhappy customers are based on? The most terrible thing is that if the phone is working properly it is awesome, but having to replace the device every 2-4 month is out of bounds. I'm hoping that this time Verizon will let me upgrade early or change to a different device. This has been a roller coaster ride from hell, when I have been fortunate to have the device working properly, I am in awe. Never had a mobile device that has been so capable combined with Verizon's expanded coverage in my state. Now that I have yet again, a crappy, newly replaced Storm, that still does not work. I'm guessing that maybe a different device is in order. Can you say ANDROID?!!!

Review on Playstation 3

Well we have had the Playstation 3(PS3) since Christmas and no problems so far. The biggest related problem is the fact that if you are not into the cutesy games like most of the games for the Wii, or the blood and guts first person shooters, what's left. I'm left with auto racing, sports, simulators, and arcade style games. Is this enough? You bet it is. I could waste some serious time playing on the PS3. However, I wish there was more games that I would consider buying. Guess thats the breaks for 44 year old kids like me.
The kids would like to have all the shooter games, but my wife and I decided that we would only buy games we approved of and might consider playing as well. Selfish...maybe but the compromise ended up being that if they wanted a game that we were not interested in, they would have to save their money and buy it themselves. They(our kids) have only bought one game, so far. I have bought 3 and my wife has purchased a handful of blue-ray movies and rented HD movies online. Wife also made me download her favorite classic PSone games. So all in all we are getting our moneys worth out of this console and everyone is happy...so far.

Playstation 3 slim has arrived in Force house

Yeah..we broke down and purchased the Playstation 3 slim 120gb. This machine is awesome mostly from the visual quality of the games, I mean, come on video games in hi-def! Whats not to like. The redesign of the popular console player is very nice smaller unit and the new consumer friendlier price are a winning combo. Its setup and configuration are fast and simple. we were up and playing in about half an hour after opening Christmas day. The most time consuming step was waiting for GT 5 Prologue to install on the hard drive (about 5 minutes). After we connected everything and did a OS update, we were treated to some of the best graphics I've ever seen until now! Quality is evident all the way around with this machine..especially surprised by the wireless game controllers. Game controllers are well synced with machine no lag, great battery life and rechargeable through any USB connection. PS3 is also a wonderful Blu-ray DVD player. We have only had this console system for about 3 weeks and the only problems we have had is twice the machine started to write to the hard drive then stuck there..solved with restart. More to follow...

Still rocking BB Storm 1

Well since the last OS update for the Storm, things have gotten a lot better. The performance at more than a month after update is great. The Storm is still quick and texting is vastly improved. memory is acting much better. The improvements have made the device a pleasure to own. Having said this, the decision is in that I will be waiting for at least one more OS update on Storm 2 and I will purchase that device. The reasoning behind that is I really would benefit from wifi capabilities, more app memory, and a little more speed over all. For now I still enjoy my mp3 collection, watching movies, my twitter projects, and all the apps on my original Storm. I'll probably make the Storm 2 purchase in the next 2-3 months. You know I'll be spreading the news on the Storm 2. Yes I'm later than the other guys but my test and reviews are based on true life scenarios not a hour hands on review.
